Prehistoric Farm Panthalassa: How to Get to the Underwater Area

Panthalassa is the underwater area you reach through the Whirlpool behind Devonian Island — and the Whirlpool only opens after you complete the questline of Kai the Tidekeeper, who stands on the right side of Devonian Island, behind the island. Talk to Kai, finish his three tasks, then talk to him again and jump into the Whirlpool. Here is the whole route.

Get ready before you start

Two things should be squared away before you begin Kai's questline:

• Level 30 or higher.
• The Titanium Shovel. It is sold at the Shovel Shop on Home Island for 20x Desert Topaz, 20x Jungle Emerald and 200,000 Coins. Desert Topaz drops from Triassic Island rocks and Jungle Emerald from Jurassic Island rocks, so expect to dig on both islands first. You will also see 350,000 Coins quoted alongside those requirements. Do not treat that as an entry fee: the 350,000 coins are the Pacific Shovel payment made inside Panthalassa after Kai's and Yara's questlines are done. You will want that money eventually if the Pacific Shovel is your goal, but it is not the price of getting in. While you are grinding for the shovel and gems, the Codes page is worth a quick check.

Find Kai the Tidekeeper

Sail to Devonian Island and walk around to its right side — behind the island — where Kai stands. Talking to him starts the questline: three tasks, and every one of them must be finished before Panthalassa opens.

Kai's three tasks

1. Find a Mosasaurus Skull. As soon as you accept the task, a pointer appears on your screen. This is a pickup errand: follow the pointer, pick up the skull on Cretaceous Island, and bring it back to Kai.
2. Catch any 50 fish. Any rod and bait work, and no species or rarity is required — 50 fish of any kind count. Shoes and bottles do not. If you have not fished yet, the fishing guide walks through the casting loop.
3. Get 3 Dunkleosteus Eggs. Dig the rocks on Devonian Island with a Silver Shovel or better until you have collected 12 Dunkleosteus Shards, then go to Home Island and get 3 Dunkleosteus Eggs. Do not hatch them — all three eggs go to Kai. The dig sites guide helps you find and work dig spots.

Jump into the Whirlpool

Go back and talk to Kai the Tidekeeper. Completing his three tasks grants you access to the Whirlpool behind Devonian Island — jump in, and you arrive in Panthalassa.

When you arrive

Finding Yara confirms you made it. Inside Panthalassa, Yara runs the questline that ends with the Pacific Shovel: reaching Level 30, completing both Kai's and Yara's questlines, and paying 350,000 coins in Panthalassa unlocks it. That is why the level requirement and the Titanium Shovel come before the trip — Yara's questline expects you to arrive with them.
