Prehistoric Farm Nessie: What It Is and How to Get the Nessie Egg
Nessie is Prehistoric Farm's long-jawed sea boss. Get a Nessie Fragment, call it at its dark open-sea area, and deal 5% damage for a chance at the Nessie Egg.
Nessie is Prehistoric Farm's giant, long-jawed sea boss. To get a chance at the Nessie Egg, bring a Nessie Fragment to its dark open-sea area, call Nessie and deal at least 5% damage during the fight. If the egg drops, it goes straight to your inventory. The damage threshold qualifies you for a chance at the egg; it does not guarantee a drop.
Nessie and the Mosasaurus are separate sea creatures. This guide covers Nessie's fragment requirement and boss reward.
Step 1: Get a Nessie Fragment
Bring a Nessie Fragment before sailing to the boss area. You have three ways to look for one:
- Pick one up in Panthalassa. A Nessie Fragment spawns there every 15 minutes and stays on the map for 5 minutes. The Panthalassa guide explains how to unlock the underwater area.
- Redeem codes. Codes have rewarded Nessie Fragments directly. They can expire, so check the current Prehistoric Farm codes before relying on one.
- Try digging at Cambrian Island. Launch your boat at your farm's dock, open the map and sail east to Cambrian Island. Dig its glowing sites for a possible fragment alongside fossil DNA. This is a slower, chance-based alternative to a fragment code. The dig sites guide covers digging, and the fossil islands guide covers getting between islands.
Step 2: Sail to the dark open-sea area
Launch a boat from your farm's dock and look for Nessie's visibly dark patch of open sea. It can be hard to spot the creature against the water. The boats guide covers your travel options, and the open sea guide covers the surrounding waters.
Once you reach the area, call Nessie to start the encounter. A Nessie Fragment is required for the call, so check your inventory before making the trip.
Step 3: Deal at least 5% damage
Deal at least 5% damage during the fight to qualify for a chance at the Nessie Egg. Joining the encounter without dealing enough damage does not qualify you for that reward chance.
When Nessie is defeated, it sinks. If you receive an egg, it is added straight to your inventory, so check there rather than searching the water for a pickup. A qualifying run can still end without an egg.
Nessie can resurface for another encounter, but there is no confirmed respawn timer here. For another attempt, keep a fragment available: Panthalassa's timed pickup and the Codes page give you places to check before you sail again.
